The American Association of Grant Professionals (AAGP) is seeking the establishment of new AAGP chapters in states, cities, and regions around the country. To accomplish this goal, AAGP is actively recruiting individuals willing to volunteer their time to lead the local charge to develop and support new chapters as a State Representative. As you will learn, each new local initiative begins with the selection of a State Representative.
The Seven Basic Steps to Forming a Chapter
1.
Locate ten or more interested grant professionals.
2.
Check the AAGP website to locate the State Representative responsible for your geographic area.
3.
Contact your State Representative. No State Representative listed? Contact the AAGP President or the Executive Director to request the appointment of one, or better yet, indicate your interest in becoming a State Representative.
4.
Determine that there are no other existing chapters in your geographic area. This step is normally conducted by the State Representative.
5.
Call a meeting of interested/prospective members. Again, this step is conducted by the State Representative. The meeting can be held face-to-face or via electronic means. A sample meeting agenda in PDF format is available to assist you. At this meeting a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer is selected. The group also approves the charter bylaws in PDF, select a chapter name and establish a meeting schedule for the next twelve months.
6.
Submit minutes, Chapter Charter application (PDF) and other documents to the National Chaptering Committee for approval. This step is also completed by the State Representative.
7.
Collect dues, receive Certificate of Charter (renewed annually), and enjoy the benefits of being an AAGP Chapter.
